The new iPad is Hot! Literally

Dutch Website Tweakers.net has released an image showing how much hotter the new iPad is, compared to iPad 2. The thermal imaging showed that the temperature on the lower right corner of the new iPad was 33.6°C(92.48 F), compared to iPad 2, which was 28.3°C(82.94 F). The 5.3°C(28.3 F) difference became evident after 5 minutes loops of each tablet running the GLBenchmark.

Apple's cool response: “The new iPad delivers a stunning Retina display, A5X chip, support for 4G LTE plus 10 hours of battery life, all while operating well within our thermal specifications,” Apple representative Trudy Muller, told The Loop. “If customers have any concerns they should contact AppleCare.”

Another news I read on the paper is that while you are playing graphics & processor intensive games such as Infinity Blade 2, the new iPad is not able to charge up. It is able to charge up normally without playing the game. Results show that the drain is more than the charge drawn!

Believe me, as true Apple fans, one will still get their hands on the hot new iPad.

The new iPad Features

I will only cover the top 3 revolutionary features of the new iPad.

Ultrafast 4G LTE

4G LTE 4G LTE

Downlink speeds up to 42 Mbps with DC-HSDPA and up to 21.1 Mbps with HSPA+. Currently available in USA, BUT NOT yet available in Singapore! Singapore's 700 MHz is used for broadcasting & 2.1 GHz is used for 3G. ETA, Singapore will offer 4G mid-year, end of the year Singtel will cover 80% & beginning of the next year 95%.

So, Singapore only 3G for now, but you can still benenfit from the quad-core.

Pixel-Perfect Performance

A5X quad-core

Performance without compromise on 10 hours of battery life.
The dual-core A5X chip with quad-core graphics drives four times the pixels of iPad 2 yet it delivers the same smoothness and fluidity iPad is known for. Even with all that extra oomph, the new iPad still gets an amazing 10 hours of battery life.

Breakthrough Retina display

Retina display

Breakthrough technology. For a breakthrough display.
In order to create a display with four times the pixels, the new iPad had to be designed in a completely new way. You see, every pixel in a display has multiple signals telling it when to light up. But when you have a lot of pixels and a lot of signals on the same plane, signals get crossed and image quality suffers. To make sure everything on the new iPad looks crystal clear, Apple engineers elevated the pixels onto a different plane — separating the pixels from the signals. It’s technology that’s breakthrough. Just like the new iPad itself.

Summary

  • 4G LTE

  • Faster performance - dual-core A5X chip with quad-core graphics

  • Retina display

  • iSight camera/HD Recording Lens

  • Dictation
